This Christmas (every one in fact, everyone thinks our family is weird) I decided on my own present. It was an expensive one but it’s one I wanted so I decided to crowdfund it from the family and friends that still to this day get me presents even though I am now 41. With the plans already in place for this project I wanted a GoPro camera.
If you’re not au fait with them GoPro was developed in the early 2000s by Nick Wood, the company’s founder. Initially disappointed with capture quality of his own action surfing photos, mainly because amateur photographers could not get close enough or buy quality equipment at reasonable prices. He created a camera system that could capture the professional footage and so this inspired the ‘GoPro’ name.
This hopefully means that I can capture I quality action footage of me cycling, being places and recording all the time. But, let me state right here I am not interested in dashcam bullshit and producing a YouTube channel where I argue with other road users. Road use is hard enough with out fanning the flames of this debate and really the internet doesn’t need any help in users of that respect.
I have just been playing so far and have just been capturing footage of rides during the Festive 500, but as there plans a foot to go places this year I should have some (hopefully) great footage of things that I see. That’s if the battery doesn’t go flat or the SIM card isn’t full. These are things that are already annoying I will update I find out more. In the meantime, enjoy the little film I made.
